Responding to retailer demand for a more reliable automated solution for collating and packing pre-packed polybags of goods, such as potatoes, into outer sacks, Pacepacker Services has launched a new Collator System. Capable of packing up to 80 packs per minute the freestanding machine can be retrofitted to MOST existing sack placing and bag sealing systems and work across multiple packing lines. Traditional collating machines released the pre-packed polybags unsupported into the outer sack, which often resulted in the polybags breaking through the bottom of the sack. Pacepacker’s Collator System has been designed to improve this process by incorporating motorised support arms to control the descent of the pre-packed polybags from the machine’s holding doors into the outer sack. The desired amounts of pre-packed bags are recognised through an inbuilt pre-programmed menu.
