Vegware and FFEI have both been celebrating success at the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise after each scooping prizes.
Vegware won the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in Sustainable Development – the UK’s highest accolade for sustainable business success. The award commends theEdinburgh firm for developing innovative zero-waste foodservice packaging, promoting sustainability and reducing landfill waste in the catering and hospitality sector. To celebrate, the SME has designed its own original Vegware tartan, announced its expansion into Australia, and the tripling of its Edinburgh office space to support UK and international growth.
Joe Frankel, founder and MD of the global packaging firm said, “We saw that foodservice needed packaging which can actually be recycled after use, and responded to that challenge. Our solution of certified compostable catering disposals and full recycling support is helping the UK’s biggest operators meet sustainability targets and save money.”
FFEI received their Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category for its development of a digital slide scanning system that has enabled significant advances in cancer diagnosis, cancer research and pathologist training.
“We are delighted to receive the Queen’s Award for Innovation,” says Andy Cook, managing director, FFEI Ltd. “The growth of our Life Science division has been built on our expertise in scanning and imaging. The success and worldwide sales of our digital slide scanner shows the value of FFEI’s approach to clinicians and pathologists.”
