Students awards

Benson Group, now part of Graphic Packaging International and one of the UK’s leading printed folding carton suppliers for the food and beverage retail industry, is once again sponsoring the Schools and Students Starpack Awards 2015, celebrating excellence in Packaging Design and Technology. The awards run alongside successful school and student programmes for packaging design. Entrants into the Schools’ Award have been asked to design a Mother’s Day Pamper Pack, to include a range of pampering gifts, with visual gift appeal and create an opening experience. The winning school will receive £500 from Benson Group. Entrants into the Student Award have been asked to create a Grow Your Own Culinary Herb Kit. The cardboard kit should contain everything to grow herbs, including seeds, pots, compost and growing instructions. Students are encouraged to maximise the use of the carton board and consider how the outer pack can be reused, and how the plants are grown and displayed.

The winner will receive £500 as well as work experience with Benson Group. Nikki Clark, Marketing Manager, Benson Group, said: “The quality of entries last year was superb and we are expecting another competitive selection of entries this year. I am looking forward to judging the entries on the March 18th.” Last year, the Student Award went to Jacky Moore, from Oxford Brookes College, with her entry for Great British Summer, which demonstrated creating a carton board picnic carry pack for two. The School Award went to Farnborough for its entry to Movie Night with Friends, in which the entrants were asked to create a pack combining two snacks to share, based on a movie night in.

The Starpack Awards are organised by IOM Communications Ltd and endorsed by The Packaging Society (a Division of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining). To enter, and for more information visit
