MarKo’s climate-neutral stand-up-pouch for Salami and Atria’s easy-open vacuum pack for minced beef were both recognised in the WolrdStar Awards. Having previously used metallised plastic packaging, German MarKo wanted a more eco-friendly pack for its Salamis. A special paper-plastic composite pack (FSC®-certified paper), reduced global warming potential by 40%, and required 33% less energy in the manufacturing. ProDirect® inkjet printing technology further reduced product-related CO2 emissions. Atria’s vacuum pack in Finland is unlike any other pack for minced beef. Using Wipak films, the pack is incredibly easy to peel open by pulling the tab. Beef is easy to remove from the vacuum pack. No gases used. 50% less material compared to traditional packages. Adapts perfectly to the shape of the product. Saves space during transport, in-store, in consumers’ shopping bags, in the refrigerator, in the bin.
