Professional Packaging Services (PPS), the UK packaging design and global production specialists, has increased the volume of work by more than 60 per cent for client Husqvarna, who manufacture products in the UK under the Flymo brand.
This year, PPS will be producing 500,000 complete packs, consisting of six different cartons across a total of 47 different lines. The packs, which contain accessories for Flymo outdoor equipment, such as spool line for trimmers, can be seen in large retail stores, as well as small independent retailers.
Manufactured in PPS’s Hong Kong factory (PPA), the packs are produced in two types of material and the cartons printed in three colours on 300 micron soft crease PET, with the inserts being printed in both single and two colours on 500 micron FBB. They are then delivered flat to the UK for co-packing.
Speaking about the contract, Paul Donkin, buyer at Husqvarna, said, “In addition to designing and producing quality packaging to budget, we needed to work with a company who could take care of the logistics of producing so many different lines. PPS has continued to impress us with their attention to detail and the way they are able to handle the increased volumes which they have always managed to deliver to the tight time schedules we have given them.”
PPS has worked with Husqvarna for the last seven years with volumes increasing year-on-year. In 2012 PPS produced 300k complete packs for the company.
In addition to the latest contract, the design team at PPS is currently working with the Husqvarna to develop new packaging for additional ranges.
