Free interactive workshops offered

National Flexible is offering its customers the chance to attend print and film training workshops for free.

Around 250 delegates have benefited from the workshops over the past two years, which are based on years of practical experience of films and print in the food packing industry, and consider many of the most common problems encountered in the selection and use of flexible packaging.

The workshops are interactive with eight to 10 delegates attending. There is a charge of £120 per person for other delegates to cover food and accommodation.

Workshop content includes: Film selection and properties; laminations and co-extrusions types and applications; secondary processes – thermoformed, retort, freezing, autoclave; print pre-press and origination; printing methods and machinery; packaging machinery types and uses; graphic and pack design; packaging and food waste reductions.

Some of the questions answered in the workshops include what new films are available for packaging, the most suitable print, why you would choose co-extrusion instead of a laminate film and what is meant by the 4 P’s of packaging.

Feedback from those who have previously attended has been very positive.

“I wanted to understand more about film and its manufacture and properties. It was a great day and I learned loads,” was the response from Dr Oetker.

“Thoroughly enjoyable and relevant workshop, we really learnt a lot,” was the feedback from Jordans Ryvita.

Anyone wishing to join the next workshop or obtain further details should contact Technical Director Dave Daniels.
