Scientists, business people, politicians, campaigners, journalists and civil society representatives will come together on February 20th to discuss the implementation of solutions to the plastics in our oceans and to help formulate an action manifesto.
Bianca Jagger, who is President of the Bianca Jagger Human Rights Foundation is amongst the keynote speakers. Others include Peter Maddox, Director of WRAP; Iain Gulland of Zero Waste Scotland; Dr Christian Schmidt of Helmholtz Centre, Leipzig; Prof Richard Thompson from Plymouth University; Prof Edward Kosior, Managing Director of Nextek, and Oliver Tickell, an environmental journalist
Organised by Artists Project Earth (APE), the Ocean Plastics Crisis Summit will be held at the Royal
Geographical Society in London and will be moderated by Roger Harrabin, BBC Environmental Journalist.
At the event Artists Project Earth will also launch its Plastic Oceans Album, the sixth in the “Rhythms Del Mundo” series, with tracks from Beyoncè, Bob Dylan, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Mumford and Sons, Maroon 5, Pharrell Williams, Beck, and other international artists. Total revenue from the albums and donations will go towards tackling the ocean plastic crisis.
