Multivac UK are delighted to announce the appointment of John Lakin as their new Managing Director. John had previously been Technical Director at Multivac for the last seven years and has held a number of senior Sales, Marketing and Technical positions in global packaging and engineering businesses in both the UK and US. This appointment came as Jim Campbell, Multivac UK’s previous MD left Multivac UK to join Multivac‘s US operations as MD.
Multivac UK have also bought a new 22,000 sq ft building to meet demand and expansion in their After Sales Services. Multivac UK already had over 29,500 sq ft in their existing building in Swindon, but the rapid growth in after sales services had left the packaging and processing machinery experts in need of more space.
The new building provides over 22,000 sq ft of additional high-quality machine workshops and spare parts warehousing for Multivac’s £3M of UK-held spares plus additional offices for their Technical Services group including Spares, Technical Support, Workshop Engineering & Training.
There have been a number of key drivers behind the rapid growth of Multivac’s After Sales Service, one of which has been the expansion of in-house engineering. Their in-house service strips down, cleans, sand blasts, re-teflon coats and bakes the tools on site before re-assembly with heating elements etc.
This service has rapidly expanded from Multivac’s own Traysealer and Thermoformer tooling to include other manufacturers including Mondini, Proseal, Sealpac and many others sent from Customers keen to take advantage of the fast turnaround and high quality. Multivac simply needed more space and more people to deliver all these services.
