2013 Global Sustainability Report

2013 Global Sustainability Report

Crown Equipment, one of the world’s largest material handling companies, has released its 2013 ecologic™ report highlighting the company’s global efforts to minimise waste, manage energy use and maximise product and facility lifespan… While the report once again focuses on Crown’s progress with its facilities and supply chain, this year’s edition also highlights the company’s successful work in designing, engineering and manufacturing material handling equipment and solutions that help customers’ sustainability efforts.

The resulting increased energy efficiency saves valuable resources and cuts customer costs. This includes such products as the TSP 7000 VNA Forklift Series with its regenerative lowering technology, which reduces energy consumption and increases run time by up to 15 per cent. Another example is Crown’s InfoLink® fleet management software that helps customers monitor the efficient use of their forklift fleet and total operations. And only last month Crown Infolink® won the International Forklift of the Year (IFOY) award for the Forklift Truck Solutions category, having been selected by 12 independent European journalists.

Crown evaluates the ecological and human health impact of its products during their life cycle, which helps the company understand the cradle-to-grave environmental performance of its product design and manufacturing processes. Design and engineering teams also conduct human-factors research by test-driving forklifts, researching trends and talking to expert users.

The innovative ideas emerging from this research have resulted in the design of safer, more reliable, durable and energy-efficient forklifts that translate into positive benefits for Crown customers.
